3 ways to evaluate any opportunity
Most entrepreneurs chase new, untested ideas, which is a mistake. I evaluate every opportunity by three factors: competition strength, profit margins, and failure rate. The best businesses have weak competitors, healthy margins, and few failures, like self-storage. The worst, like app startups, have the opposite. I also reject the Blue Ocean Strategy. I'd rather enter an existing market where demand is proven and the competition is easy to beat. Go where money is already being made.
